Is Data Analyst a good career in 2024?

Hey friends,

A lot of people have mixed opinions about whether data analysis remains a viable career in 2024. Especially with the rise of AI and tools such as ChatGPT for data cleaning and analysis, is the data analyst job dead?

This is my opinion.

While AI automates many tasks, the data analyst field will continue to grow because AI still lacks critical human skills like complex problem-solving and effective communication of insights. So rather than AI replacing data analysts, I think the role of data analysts will continue to be reshaped making collaboration between AI and data analysts valuable. Data analysts will focus on interpreting insights and crafting compelling data narratives, while AI handles the routine tasks.

So now that you know data analysis will remain relevant and in demand, where should you start? If you’re a complete beginner, I’d consider exploring the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate (which also includes access to Google AI essentials for limited time). This is a good course to get the fundamentals of data to start your data journey. And if you're unsure whether a career in data is right for you, my advice is to take action and start learning—it's better to begin exploring than to overthink and delay 🙂
