Project Tips EVERY Data Analyst Must Know

How to create a project

Hey friends,

So you’re thinking about a career in data and everywhere you look you see the words “project” and “portfolio” but what exactly is a project and portfolio?? I answer this question and share my MUST KNOW project tips here where I outline a project in 3 steps:

1) Identify the dataset and an objective (problem statement) that you will solve using the data

2) Perform your data analysis such as exploratory data analysis, descriptive analysis, or model building

3) Present your findings through documentation and a narrative that outlines your objective, findings, data analysis steps, along with any recommendation or lessons learned.

Once you have your project complete, the best way to share your project will be through Linkedin and your resume. Remember the whole point of your project is to add to your data analyst experience and use as talking points for your interviews. Projects are not required but are a great way to make yourself standout and get hired as many data analysts have found jobs by using their project work as experience. If you need inspiration of how to think through a project, I have this video as well.

Talk soon,

Agatha
