In the last newsletter, I shared some free SQL resources and today I’m going to answer - what SQL skills do you NEED to know to land a job? I’ve compiled a list of common SQL functions that I’ve have used on the job:

WHERE vs HAVING How to filter data and what is the difference?

Aggregations and GROUP BY How to calculate sum and average?

JOIN What is the difference between left, right, inner, and outer joins?

Subqueries vs CTEs How to use them and what is the difference?

CASE WHEN How to create conditional statements?

Windows Functions How to create them and when to use them?

DATEPART, MONTH, YEAR, DATEDIFF How to create different date values?

COALESCE How to handle NULL values?

Make sure you can answer all of the questions above and start familiarizing yourself with SQL!
